Walker named head of ethics committee

State Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, has been appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics.

The 2013 legislative session will be Walker’s first time to lead the panel.

The committee works to ensure adherence to the Senate code of ethics to help lawmakers avoid conflicts of interests in public office, Walker said in a statement.

Legislators will reconvene Jan. 7 and could stay in session as late as April 29 to draft and approve a two-year state budget and other legislation.
