A thief stole two purses out of vehicles parked by the clubhouse of a Center Grove area neighborhood, police said.

The thefts took place Thursday at the clubhouse of the Carefree subdivision in White River Township.

A woman reported Thursday afternoon that someone got into her vehicle and stole her purse while she was swimming in the pool, according to a police report. She told a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy that her vehicle was locked but that her front windows were opened about half an inch.

The thief took credit cards, a library card, a digital camera and memory card, prescription glasses, lotions and a scrap of paper with her bank account number written on it, the report said. The contents of the purse were valued at more than $550.
