A Trafalgar teen is in fair condition at an Indianapolis hospital after a serious crash on State Road 252 over the weekend.
A car struck a semitrailer near the intersection of State Road 252 and Airport Road about 7:44 a.m. Saturday. The driver of the semitrailer told police the car did not stop at a stop sign, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
The car’s driver, Shelby Jarrett, 17, was seriously injured in the crash and taken by medical helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Emergency workers had to cut her out of the vehicle.
Jarrett was listed in fair condition late Monday afternoon, hospital spokesman Gene Ford said.
No one else was injured in the accident, according to the report.
The truck driver, Jose Cruz, 40, Locust Grove, Va., told police that the car ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit his trailer. Police were not able to talk to Jarrett because of her injuries, the report said.
