Police believe that a teenager stole guns from a Center Grove area home and sold them in Indianapolis.
The homeowners were out of town early last week when the robbery occurred at their house in the 200 block of Windmill Trail. They called and asked a neighbor to check on the house for them, and he found that three pistols and two rifles were missing from a closet, according to a police report.
A laptop and baseball cards also were missing but were later found in the bushes outside the house, according to the report.
Police questioned a 16-year-old acquaintance, who told officers he had taken the items. Police believe two other juveniles were present during both the burglary and the sale of the guns, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.
Police recovered all five guns, which had been sold to four people in Indianapolis and one in Johnson County, Cox said. The buyers could face charges.
