String of cash register thefts along interstate

Follow Daily Journal:

Police believe a string of business burglaries along Interstate 65 in Columbus, Seymour and Edinburgh were likely committed by the same people.

Cash registers have been found along multiple I-65 exits after being reported stolen from businesses.

The cash register was stolen from a store at Edinburgh Premium Outlets the same night as businesses in Columbus and Seymour. A nearby store employee reported at about 8 a.m. Sunday the glass front door to Tools and More, 11670 Executive Drive, appeared to have been broken out with a pry bar, said Edinburgh Deputy Police Chief David Lutz.

The only thing taken appeared to be the cash register, he said. Most of the register was found along I-65 near Columbus.

Police in the different communities believe the same person or people are responsible for all the weekend burglaries.
