A classic car stolen from a rural Franklin home last week has been returned.
The car, a 1953 Hudson Wasp, was reported stolen Wednesday from a home in the 1700 block of South Mauxferry Road in Franklin.
A neighbor saw two people loading the car onto a red flatbed truck earlier in the week, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
Shortly after the theft, a conservation officer saw the red flatbed with the stolen car driving south toward Bartholomew County. Investigators tracked down and spoke with two people who did not steal the car but who might know who did.
Shortly after, the car was returned to the owner’s home, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.
No one has been arrested in the theft, but the investigation continues, Cox said.
“The victim got his car back. That’s a plus for us. But if we find out who’s responsible, we will (arrest) them,” Cox said.
