A man was taken to the hospital after a stabbing at a party in an Edinburgh theater.
Santiago Sanchez, 40, of Edinburgh, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery.
Police were called to the Pixy Theater, 111 S. Walnut St., about 1 a.m. Sunday. A family was hosting a large birthday party with more than 100 guests at the theater, which also has banquet halls for events, according to an Edinburgh police report.
One man told police he was using the restroom when he was stabbed in the back, the police report said.
He began fighting with the attacker, and the man said Sanchez stabbed him four more times during the scuffle. The man was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where he was released after treatment, hospital chief development officer Bill Oakes said.
The man told police that he did not know Sanchez, the report said.
Sanchez told police that he was jumped in the bathroom by a group of men with a broken glass bottle, the report said. Sanchez said he accidentally stabbed himself during the fight. Police found a bloody knife upstairs, and the man who was stabbed had holes in his shirt that looked like knife cuts, the report said.
Sanchez, 200 S. Walnut St., was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was being held on $16,000 bond.
