Eli Skinner and Eric Cameron of Greenwood spent two hours building this snowman at a home in Plainfield, where the families were gathered to celebrate the new year. The snowman is 10 feet tall and was built for the family children, Hunter Skinner, 4, Gauge Skinner, 3, and Lily Skinner, 9 months. The builders estimate the snowman weighs a half ton.

Greenwood resident Tom Pfifer and his granddaughter Kyanna Bradley, 10, built an igloo in the front yard of their Pearl Street home following last week's blizzard. Pfifer and Bradley first built a snow pile and let it sit for a week so it could harden. Then they spent an hour digging out the middle of the pile to make it a fort. Bradley said the igloo is better than the one they built two years ago.
