It was Senior Day at Franklin College’s Spurlock Center on Saturday.
Four-year starters Annie Tarkington and Jess Prewett, along with Lindsay Rich, were instrumental in the Grizzlies’ 61-56 women’s basketball win against visiting Defiance College.
The victory upped Franklin’s record in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference to 15-3 and 21-4 overall, while Defiance fell to 11-7 and 14-11.
The Grizzlies’ win also secured the No. 2 seed in this week’s HCAC Tournament.
Franklin, which finished one game back of conference champion and tournament host Transylvania, has a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Hanover-Rose-Hulman quarterfinal game at 5 p.m. Saturday. The championship is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tarkington finished with a team-best 16 points, while Rich added 15, and Prewett scored 10. Junior Lindsey Dall also reached double-figures for the Grizzlies with 12 points.
