A semitrailer truck overturned in an accident on Interstate 65 near Franklin on Thursday.
Both drivers were taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Their conditions were not available Friday.
About 3:45 p.m., Greenwood resident Jason Shaffer, 33, was on the shoulder of the interstate and pulled in front of a semitrailer truck driven by Dale Richardson, 59, of Jeffersonsville, according to an Indiana State Police news release.
The truck hit Shaffer’s car, swerved to the right and overturned. Traffic in the southbound lanes was restricted for several hours after the crash.
Schaffer was able to get out of his car, but firefighters had to cut Richardson out of the truck cab, the release said.
Police cited Shaffer for driving without proof of insurance, the release said.
