The community is invited to a free debate at Franklin College about an issue state lawmakers are expected to discuss this year.
Jane Henegar, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, and Curt Smith, president of the Indiana Family Institute, will argue their points for or against a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages.
The debate will begin at 7 p.m. Monday and last an hour.
The moderator will be former Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard. The debate will be free and open to the public.
The debate will help people develop an informed opinion about the issue, Franklin College President James “Jay” Moseley said in a news release.
The event will be in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center on South Forsythe Street on the Franklin College campus.
