Residents warned after burglary near Trafalgar

Follow Daily Journal:

Police are asking residents who live near Trafalgar to look out for suspicious vehicles or people after a burglary at a rural home.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 5000 block of County Road 350S on Wednesday for a break-in. Someone cut the screen on a bedroom window, climbed in and took multiple items, including rifles, laptops, a digital camera and cash, according to a police report.

The break-in occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Investigators found a print from a pair of work boots and also saw tire tracks in the driveway that appear to be from large tires on a pickup truck, the police report said.

Residents in the area had reported seeing a black Chevrolet extended-cab pickup in the area in recent weeks. Police don’t know if that vehicle is connected to this break-in but are asking for any information about the truck, Sheriff Doug Cox said.

Anyone with information about the break-in should call the sheriff’s office tip line at 346-4604.
