The annual Remember Blake Car Show, cruise-in and concert in memory of a local child is set for next weekend.

On Friday, residents can cruise the courthouse square in Franklin during the annual Cruisin’ the Courthouse event from 5 to 9 p.m.

At 7 p.m., Recoil will perform in a free outdoor concert at Franklin Community Middle School, 625 Grizzly Cub Drive.

On Aug. 9, the fourth annual Remember Blake Car Show will be in the middle school parking lot. Registration for the car show will be 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at the school off U.S. 31.

A memorial ceremony for Blake Dickus will be at 2 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m.

The fee is $15 for all vehicle entrants. The event is free to the public. The show also will feature a food court, kids zone and balloon release.

Proceeds benefit the Johnson County Youth Assistance and Crime Prevention Program, Franklin Boys and Girls Club and The Blake Dickus Criminal Tip Line Reward Fund. The annual event is in memory of Blake Dickus, who was 10 when he and his stepmother were slain July 24, 2006. The case remains unsolved.
