Work on a railroad project that will close Peterman Road for a week has been delayed.
Peterman Road at the railroad crossing between County Line and Fairview roads now will be closed from 8 a.m. Aug. 18 through 4 p.m. Aug. 22. Drivers should use Fairview Road and State Road 135 as a detour, according to a Johnson County Highway Department news release.
The section of Peterman Road originally was to be closed next week, but the project was delayed because of a scheduling conflict with a contractor, Indiana Rail Road Co. spokesman Eric Powell said.
Indiana Rail Road Co., which has tracks across western Johnson County between Morgantown and Indianapolis, is replacing rail, installing new ties and replacing grade crossings as part of an overall project across the state.
