Police seeking woman in theft of purse downtown

Follow Daily Journal:

Franklin police are looking for a woman after an employee from a downtown store reported that her purse was stolen.

The woman had gone to Thanks for the Thyme shop, 396 E. Jefferson St., on Wednesday and asked the employee to get a heavy item in the store for her. The employee went to the back, and the woman left before the employee returned, according to a police report.

Shortly after, the employee discovered that her purse containing credit cards and cash was missing. The missing credit cards were then used at stores in Whiteland and Greenwood, the report said.

The woman police are looking for is in her 40s, has dark hair, has some gold on her teeth and was driving a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo, according to a news release.

Anyone with information should call the Franklin Police Department at 736-3670.
