A Columbus woman was arrested after police said she took a cash box from a fruit and vegetable stand near Franklin.
Rayna Jayne Russell, 39, 2071 Ohio St., was arrested on charges of criminal conversion, driving while suspended with a previous conviction, altered interim plate, possession of marijuana/hashish and restricted use of a drug-injection device.
A woman reported at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday that she was working at Melody Acres, 1169 N. State Road 135, when Russell asked if she could have money for gas, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman went to get a gas can and saw Russell take the cash box with about $400 and leave. Trafalgar police stopped Russell’s vehicle at state roads 252 and 135. The officer found that her license plate was altered, and hypodermic needles were found inside the vehicle and in her pocket, police said. A marijuana cigarette and about $350 was later found at the jail, according to authorities.
She was being held on $8,000 bond Sunday.
