A Bargersville woman was arrested after police said she had a blood-alcohol content of nearly three times the legal limit with six children in her vehicle.
Robyn P. Smith, 43, 4770 Krestridge Court East, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated with a previous conviction.
A Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving behind Smith on Morgantown Road, between Olive Branch and Stones Crossing roads, about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. The deputy saw the vehicle go off the side of the road and nearly hit residential mailboxes, according to a sheriff’s office report.
The deputy stopped Smith’s vehicle and could smell alcohol. She told him she had been drinking that evening and that her car had driven off the road while she was playing with the children in the car, the report said.
Six of Smith’s passengers in the vehicle were between 6 and 16 years old, the report said.
A test showed Smith’s blood-alcohol content was .23 percent, the report said. The legal limit of being considered intoxicated is .08 percent.
Smith was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where she was being held on $3,000 bond.
