Police arrested a Greenwood man they said punched a woman in the face, slapped a 3-year-old child, and threatened to kill one of her children and burn down her home.
Timothy L. Duncan Jr., 28, has been charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, domestic battery, intimidation and criminal recklessness. He was arrested Monday on a warrant.
The woman who was attacked went to the hospital and was treated for a sprained wrist, cuts and bruises after the fight on April 15, according to a police report. Her 3-year-old son also had a bruise on his cheek and told police Duncan hit him with an open hand and that the man did it frequently, the report said.
The woman confronted Duncan in mid-April after her mother found bruises on one of the children. They began arguing, and he pushed a coffee table onto her and spilled a cup of coffee on her side, the report said. Duncan said if he was going to be accused of beating her children that he was going to do it in front of her, then he would cut the child’s throat and burn down the house, the report said.
The woman stepped in front of him and told her children to run for help, and Duncan punched her in the side of the head, the report said. He took her purse and got in his car to drive away. When she reached in the open window to get it back, he started to drive away causing her to fall on the driveway and sprain her wrist, the report said.
Duncan, 1418 Green Spring Way, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was being held on $10,000 bond.
