A Franklin man was arrested after a police chase early Wednesday.

A sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a truck on County Road 750N near Interstate 65 at 4:45 a.m. The driver was speeding and kept going after the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.
The driver, later identified as Chandler, led police on a chase north into Greenwood, reaching 80 mph at one point, not stopping at stop signs or red lights, the report said.
Other vehicles had to move out of the way to avoid being hit by the truck.
He stopped briefly at the railroad tracks on Main Street in Greenwood because a train was passing but continued driving on Main Street once the train passed, the report said.
He stopped in a driveway on Hurley Street in the Southwood Mobile Home Community in Greenwood, telling officers he wanted to say goodbye to his wife, the report said.
Chandler was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was being held on $8,000 bond.
