A Center Grove area man was arrested after police said he tried to steal electronics, jewelry and silver from his grandmother’s home.

Dustin Elliott, 33, was arrested on a charge of burglary.

A neighbor called police after she noticed two men going into Elliott’s grandmother’s house in the 3300 block of Eaton Mews Court in the Stone Village subdivision, according to a police report.

The neighbor told police the homeowner was in a nursing home, and no one was supposed to be at the house.

A Johnson County sheriff’s deputy stopped Elliott’s car as it was leaving the neighborhood and found a TV, DVD player, silver plates and a sock filled with jewelry in the car. Elliott told the deputy he had permission to take the items from the house, the report said.

Elliott’s mother told the deputy that he should not be removing anything from the house, the report said.

Elliott, 1016 S. Morgantown Road, Apt. B, was taken to the Johnson County jail and held on $13,200 bond.
