Police are searching for two men who robbed a Greenwood pharmacy at gunpoint Thursday.
The men took Oxycontin from CVS on Market Place Drive near State Road 37 before leaving through the store’s drive-up window, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
The men had been driving a white Chevy Impala but were not in the car when police stopped the vehicle shortly after the robbery, Sheriff Doug Cox said.
About 7:50 p.m. Thursday, a man wearing a mask and dark clothing entered the pharmacy and pointed a gun at the assistant pharmacist, telling her to get on the floor, the report said.
The man then told another pharmacist to open the drive-thru window and to get him Oxycontin from the pharmacy’s safe, according to the report.
A second man entered the pharmacy through the window, carrying a backpack that he filled with Oxycontin, the report said.
The two men left through the window.
An employee at the front of the store called police after customers told her the store was being robbed, the report said.
Witnesses told police they saw the Impala speed away, and officers stopped the car shortly after about 3 miles away, the report said.
Surveillance video from the store showed rust spots and a sunroof that matched the car the officers stopped, but the two men inside did not match witnesses’ descriptions of the men who robbed the store, Cox said.
Investigators have interviewed the two men in the car and are investigating if they were involved in the robbery, Cox said.
No arrests have been made.
Police are looking for anyone who saw the men who robbed the store exchange their car with the two men driving it, Cox said.
The exchange would have taken place shortly before 8 p.m. somewhere between the CVS parking lot and Wicker Road, Cox said.
Anyone with information on the robbery should call the sheriff’s office investigation division at 346-4604.
