A passenger was injured in an accident in the Center Grove area when the teenage driver left the roadway and hit a utility pole.
The driver, a 17-year-old from Greenwood, told deputies he had been drinking alcohol before driving, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s office.
The vehicle was headed east on Olive Branch Road from State Road 37, left the roadway and hit a pole, breaking it off, the report said. The accident happened about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Passenger Christopher A. Turner, 26, of Paragon, hit his head on the windshield and had chest and leg pain. He was treated at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis and released.
The teen was taken to the hospital for a blood test. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash.
