Overnight storm blows out windows, downs trees

An overnight storm blew the windows and frames out of a Greenwood shopping center and caused a tree to fall on a house.

No one was injured in the storm that moved through Johnson County about 2:30 a.m.

The windows and frames were blown out of the Value City Furniture store on U.S. 31, across from the Greenwood Park Mall. The neighboring store, Vitamin Shoppe, was also damaged. A home on Bomar Lane was damaged when a tree fell on it. Bomar Lane is south of County Line Road, between State Road 135 and U.S. 31.

The damage report comes from Michael Watkins, director of Johnson County Public Safety Communications.

No injuries were reported.

Trees were down across the county. Some of the roads that were at least partially blocked are: Rocklane Road, near Matthews Road, east of Greenwood; Golden Grove Road, which is off of Saddle Club Road in the Center Grove area; North Harrison Street in Needham; Needham Street and County Road 700 East; and County Roads 100 North and 150 West, which is between Franklin and Bargersville; and at State Road 135 and County Road 675 West, between Trafalgar and Morgantown.

Utility companies are working to restore power.
