A Greenwood-based shelter for women will host an open house and celebration 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Haven Sanctuary is a transitional organization to aid single women and their children. Qualifying families can live at the Haven House facility for up to two years. During that time, women are given training for jobs, financial management and life skills.
The open house, at 198 N. Emerson Ave., will serve as the official opening of Haven Sanctuary’s first facility. Officials are asking people to help stock the home’s pantry by providing nonperishable food items such as soup, canned vegetables and boxed pasta.
Products such as toilet paper, paper towels and paper plates also are needed.
Tours will be given, and a ribbon cutting will be at 2 p.m.
