Officials believe pair of burglary reports linked

Follow Daily Journal:

Two residents in the Center Grove area reported burglary attempts Saturday, and the sheriff said they are likely connected.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the 3300 block of Scramble Drive and 1500 block of Heron Ridge Drive. The homes are less than 2 miles from each other.

At about 7:30 p.m., police were called to the home on Scramble Drive, which is located off of Stones Crossing Road in the El Dorado subdivision. A woman told deputies a man had walked into the back yard, looked in the windows and then attempted to open a sliding door on the back of the house. The door was locked, and the man looked in one more time, then left the yard, according to a police report.

Ten minutes later police were called to the the Heron Ridge subdivision off Olive Branch Road. The homeowner, who wasn’t home, called police after his house alarm went off. The door of the house had been kicked in or broken open with a heavy object. A neighbor checked the house with police and nothing appeared to have been taken, the report said.

Neighbors said they didn’t see anyone at the house or any vehicles parked on the street before the break-in, the report said.

Because of the short distance between the homes and since both incidents occurred within about 15 minutes of each other, Sheriff Doug Cox said it is likely they are related.

Anyone with information should contact the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 346-4604.
