Odor complaint leads to marijuana arrest

Follow Daily Journal:

A Franklin man was arrested after police found marijuana in his apartment, police said.

Christopher Eugene Ford, 22, 2071 E. Benjamin St., Apt. 2, Franklin, was arrested on charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Earlier this month, a maintenance worker called police to complain about a strong smell of marijuana coming from Ford’s apartment, according to the report.

An officer could smell marijuana coming from the apartment, knocked on the door and talked to Ford, according to the report. He asked Ford for permission to search the apartment, and Ford refused. Officers brought a police dog, and the dog detected narcotics, the report said.

Police got a search warrant for the apartment and found about 62 grams of marijuana in two jars, remnants of smoked marijuana cigarettes, marijuana seeds and rolling papers, according to the report.

Ford told police he didn’t have anything illegal, except for a little marijuana, the report said.

He was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $4,000 bond.
