The crowd mobbed around the entrance of Lids Pro Shop inside the Super Bowl Village.

Holding hats, cards, magazines and other memorabilia, dozens of people pushed against barricades hoping to see a celebrity or sports star pass through.

Indianapolis resident Jereme Pelton started camping out at 8:30 a.m. to get his official Super Bowl XLVI football signed.

So far, he’d corralled Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic from the “Mike and Mike” ESPN radio show, and sports columnist and author Rick Reilly.

Stars Jermichael Finley of the Green Bay Packers, and A.J. Green and Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals already had passed through, but Pelton couldn’t get them to stop. He also missed former 49ers quarterback Steve Young.

“There’s not anyone in particular I’m trying to get. Just anyone that comes by, I’ll ask them,” he said.

The location was the entrance for guests appearing on a variety of ESPN radio and TV programs. As they made their way onto the set, they passed by outstretched arms holding pens and paraphernalia to get signed.

“I’m not a collector, I just wanted to get a few autographs,” Pelton said. “I just thought it would be fun.”
