A Michigan man was in critical condition on Monday after his motorcycle slid across the pavement on State Road 37 when he tried to stop too quickly.
Donnie Hoig, 46, Marlette, Michigan, was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a motorcycle wreck at the intersection with Smith Valley Road about 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
Hoig was heading north and tried to stop at a red light at the intersection. His tires slid, and a trailer he was pulling began to fishtail, according to a police report. The trailer caused his Harley-Davidson motorcycle to tip and slide into the back of another cycle in front of him, driven by Charles Thompson, 45, of Saginaw, Michigan.
Hoig had a head injury from the crash and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Thompson suffered a minor injury to his arm but declined medical treatment at the scene.
