Marion County hospitals to lift restrictions on visitors

All visitors soon will be allowed back into Marion County hospitals as health officials see fewer cases of the flu.

On Jan. 18, Marion County hospitals began restricting visitors, not allowing anyone under the age of 18, anyone who was not an immediate family member and anyone with symptoms of the flu. The hospitals, including Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis and Community Hospital South, will lift the restrictions on Friday, according to a Marion County Health Department news release.

Health officials said the number of flu cases started to decline last week, and the Marion County Health Department reports about 100 fewer patients visited local hospitals between the week of Jan. 20 and the week of Jan. 27.
