An Indianapolis man was arrested after police said he injured his girlfriend and intentionally crashed into two other vehicles.
Lawrence F. Gillim, 59, was arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal recklessness, criminal confinement and criminal mischief.
He also faces charges of resisting an officer, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 percent or more, operating while intoxicated causing endangerment and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
Police believe Gillim battered his girlfriend while they were driving and would not let her get out of the car. They think he then intentionally crashed into two vehicles parked at the Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area, near County Road 600S and County Road 200E, Sheriff Doug Cox said in an email.
Police still are investigating, Cox said.
After Gillim saw a person calling 911, he ran into the nearby woods.
A police dog found Gillim in the woods, and he was arrested, according to the police report. Gillim’s girlfriend was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital, Cox said.
Gillim also was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be treated for wounds from being bitten by the dog and to have his blood drawn for the investigation, Cox said.
Gillim, 5501 Vintage Drive, was taken to the Johnson County jail and is being held on $41,000 bond.
