A Greenwood man convicted earlier this year of child molestation was sentenced to three years in prison.
Douglas Hubbard, 55, 5849 Brenda Court, also was sentenced to three years on probation, according to a news release from the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.
A jury convicted Hubbard of a Class C felony count of child molesting after three days of testimony.
He could have faced up to eight years in prison when he was sentenced by Johnson Superior Court 2 Judge Cynthia Emkes.
Hubbard’s attorney asked that Hubbard not be sentenced to prison because he had no previous criminal convictions and because he had to care for a sick family member. But the deputy prosecutor argued that Hubbard needed to go to prison and the effect of the crime justified prison time, the news release said.
The conviction was from an incident in 2010.
