The president and chief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Co. will speak to this year’s group of Franklin College graduates.
John C. Lechleiter has been leading the Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical company since 2008 and was named chairman of the board in 2009. He’s been employed at Eli Lilly since 1979, when he joined as a senior organic chemist. He received several promotions before being selected to lead the company.
Lechleiter also serves on the boards of several organizations and businesses, including Nike Inc., Ford Motor Co. and Xavier University, where he received his undergraduate degree.
He will give the keynote address at the Franklin College commencement at 10 a.m. May 24 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium. He also will be awarded an honorary doctorate of science during the ceremony.
Tickets will be required to ensure enough seating is available for the families of graduates.
