Johnson County Museum of History has announced the winners of the 2013 Dec-A-Tree Contest.

First place went to the Friends of Johnson County Public Library, with theme of “Dr. Seuss: The Cat in the Hat.”

The second-place winner was Alexander Hamilton chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution: “Christmas at Valley Forge.”

The creativity award went to Alternative Care Experience (ACE) for its Snowman tree.

Participants of the Dec-A-Tree contest included 15 local nonprofit organizations who used their skills to decorate a Christmas tree that was featured in the museum’s holiday display.

The first- and second-place prizes were determined by popular vote of museum visitors in December, and the creativity prize was awarded by a panel of judges at the museum.
