Library Christmas tree honors military members

The dedication of a Christmas tree devoted to military members is planned for Saturday in Franklin.

The Johnson County Public Library has created an “Our Heroes Tree,” which honors members who have served or are serving in the military. A dedication ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. at the Franklin library, 401 S. State St.

Lt. Col. James E. Elkins, commander of the 3rd Battalion (LG) 411th Regiment, will attend and speak about his time in the military.

Refreshments will be served. The event is open to all ages. No registration is necessary.
