To the editor:

In 2015, Johnson County is creating a new superior court; and as a longtime resident and voter, I want the most qualified candidate to occupy that bench. As a father, I want my daughter, Marla, to win the seat in the 2014 primary election and the general election processes. Fortunately she is eminently qualified such that my goal as a voter meshes quite nicely with my perspective as her Dad.

Marla has excelled academically in becoming valedictorian of Center Grove High School, class of 1989. She earned a National Merit Scholarship to the University of Houston, and she was the first recipient of the Michael Maurer scholarship at Indiana University Bloomington, School of Law. Marla graduated with honors from both universities.

She practiced law briefly in Phoenix, Ariz., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dallas, Texas, before returning to Indiana to serve eight years in the appellate court office of the honorable James S. Kirsch.

In 2005, she was appointed by the honorable K. Mark Loyd to serve as the Johnson County juvenile court magistrate, a position she currently holds. I could fill many pages with her accomplishments, but you can trust me that she is easily the most qualified of the candidates who seek the new judicial office.

If you are a Johnson County voter, please cast your vote for Marla Clark. If you have family, friends, acquaintances or business contacts in Johnson County, please encourage those folks to vote for Marla.

I sincerely thank you for your support, and I earnestly pray that the best candidate wins this election.

William H. Clark
