This is to address what Dan Blackburn said in his letter to the editor (“Town functions better than homeowner groups,” June 23).
Where have you been the last two years? We settled the matter of our White River Township becoming a “City of Center Grove.” An estimated 90 percent of us like the services that Johnson County and White River Township provides.
The matter went to the Indiana Legislature, and the matter was settled in favor of the 90 percent who do not want to become a city, thanks to John Price, our newly elected representative.
Also, homeowners associations have absolutely nothing to do with whether you live in a city or not. Where would you ever get the idea they were connected?
You chose to live in that kind of a neighborhood when you purchased your house.
I for one would never ever buy a house where I had to say “Mother May I” every time I wanted to put up a gazebo, paint my house, etc. I know someone who lives in an addition where they have a little old lady driving around every day to enforce their “No Dandelion” tolerance rules. And they are fined if one has popped up over night! That is like living under real tyranny.
But you chose to live in that environment. Making this area a city will not change that for you.
