Letter: Residents paying price for slow tax cases

To the editor:

In the March 28 Daily Journal, I noted the “hardworking, dedicated, efficient” bureaucrats in the Johnson County Assessor’s Office again made news (“Hundreds awaiting appeals on appraisals”).

Some poor citizen-slob has been paying (he thinks) extra taxes for two (long) years — while awaiting a hearing.

Further, it is reported some 1,317 other appeals have been filed, with the munificent total of 25 (!) cases resolved.
