To the editor:
This letter is in response to Annette Magjuka’s comments (Daily Journal, June 14) regarding offering more rigorous academic programs and Advanced Placement courses in Center Grove schools.
I agree 100 percent with Annette’s comments.
1. If your child attends elementary high-ability learning programs, be prepared for a huge letdown when your child repeats the same levels in middle school — no programs exist to continue that momentum. Administrators and curriculum directors will tell you they will form a committee to “study and review it next year.”
This is double-speak for “no change will occur, and if so it will be years away.” My daughter was in the first high-ability elementary program started 12 years ago. Even today, long after her graduation, I am still waiting for Center Grove to put these same programs in the middle schools.
