To the editor:

I am writing to voice my support for Marla Clark, Republican candidate for Superior Court 4 Judge.

Marla is a local girl having grown up here in Johnson County, graduating as valedictorian of her class at Center Grove High School. She graduated with honors from the University of Houston and Indiana University Bloomington School of Law.

Marla served eight years at the Indiana Court of Appeals before being appointed to serve as the Johnson County, Indiana, Juvenile Court Magistrate in 2005, a position she currently holds.

While serving in her current position, Marla has made several changes, incorporating new technology and reducing the average time that it takes a case to be resolved from 82 days to 45. The juvenile crime rate has been reduced while she has been on the bench, and offenders have a lower risk to re-offend in 80 percent of her cases. All of these improvements are at no extra cost to the taxpayers.

Marla Clark is an advocate for our children and for families. She has invested herself in the lives of those who pass through her courtroom. As I walked alongside her in various parades I was always humbled by the people that stepped out of the crowd to shake her hand or offer a hug while thanking her for helping turn their lives around. She is passionate about her job, and is committed to her community. She has nine years of experience serving as judge and will move into the new Superior Court 4 ready to serve on day one.

Marla is not a politician, nor does she have a desire to be one. She is a well-educated, experienced public servant with a heart for the hurting children and families in Johnson County. Her experience and her vast knowledge of case law and family dynamics make her the perfect choice for Superior Court 4 judge. I ask for your support for Marla Clark on May 6.
