To the editor:

Thank you for two excellent columns in April 7’s Daily Journal (“Chaos in college athletics: Who’s exploiting whom?” and “Now there are three significant strains of American political-economic philosophy.”) I appreciate that both writers have Indiana ties.

Since I call myself a progressive, I liked Cecil Bohanon’s take on the three political-economic philosophies, but I found Dan Thomasson’s column especially thought-provoking.

We really need to decide whether or not to call student-athletes students — or just be honest and pay them to play the professional-style games they do.

Keep up your good work giving us food for thought.
