The Greenwood Public Library is laying off employees as it struggles to make do with fewer tax dollars.
A projected decline in tax income next year has the library cutting staff, freezing spending on buying books and other materials and re-evaluating all service contracts.
But the library board is studying whether it will need to make another round of cuts. A special meeting is scheduled for next week.
The library must reduce spending because its tax income is expected to decline more than originally expected, board president David Julian said.
