Marty Chitwood of Johnson County recently received an award from the Indiana Federation of Republican Women.
She was the 2013 honoree from the 9th Congressional District at the annual Tribute to Women dinner in late June. Chitwood was recognized for her volunteer work in many organizations throughout the county.
She has been a member of the Johnson County Republican Women’s Club since the early 1980s. She was the clerk-treasurer for the city of Greenwood from 1984 to 1988. She also has worked as a precinct committee member since 1982 and served as a delegate to many state conventions.
Her volunteerism has included work at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in the cancer center. She also has tutored at Westwood Elementary School and volunteered at Isom Elementary School.
Other affiliations include those in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Greenwood Little League Auxiliary. Other work includes volunteering at her church, Greenwood Christian Church.
She’s won several awards for her work in the community.
