Johnson County planning director stepping down from position

Follow Daily Journal:

The county planning director is leaving his position for a job in Bargersville.

Johnson County Planning and Zoning Director Bryan Pohl will start work as the planning director for Bargersville on Feb. 11.

Bargersville could become a new hotspot of development in the county, Pohl said. The future construction of Interstate 69 along State Road 37 will offer new opportunities for the town, and that potential development made the job attractive, he said.

“The opportunities out there on (State Road) 37 if utilities can get out there, there can be a floodgate of development. I really anticipate the first few months I’ve got a lot to learn about what’s happening in Bargersville,” he said.

Pohl started as the county planning director in July 2010 and has worked in planning and development for nine years.

The county has started searching for a new planning director, including posting the job online and with a trade group.

No timeline has been set to find Pohl’s replacement, county coordinator Barb Davis said. The Johnson County Commissioners want to hire someone as soon as possible, she said. The salary for the new county director will be between $49,000 and $51,923.
