Local Ivy Tech Community College nursing students have surpassed the national average in completing a licensing exam.
Students at the Columbus and Franklin campuses achieved a 97 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination, which students must pass to become licensed nurses.
Seventy-four of 76 students who took the exam passed. The figures are based on those who took the test in 2012.
The National Council Licensure Examination was developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Inc. Through the test, potential nurses must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform nursing duties safely and effectively.
