Becky Allen, adviser of the Alpha Rho Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at the Ivy Tech Community College Franklin campus, and the chapter itself, have been honored for their accomplishments.
Allen and the chapter are being honored at the annual convention of Phi Theta Kappa in Orlando this month.
Allen was selected as a recipient of the 2014 Continued Excellence Award for Advisers. She is one of 30 advisers selected from over 50 nominees worldwide. The award recognizes advisers who have served at least four years and have previously won a distinguished adviser award. Award-winning advisers have made significant contributions to the growth of the individual chapter members, served as the chapter’s advocate on campus and encouraged the chapter to be involved on the local, regional and/or international levels of the organization.
The chapter has been awarded the distinction of being a 2014 Distinguished Chapter Officer Team. Teams are chosen based on the team’s demonstration of an exceptional atmosphere of teamwork, leadership abilities, and enthusiasm in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. The Alpha Rho Tau chapter is one of 30 selected from more than 200 nominees internationally.
