Ivy Tech Community College–Columbus/Franklin will host two faculty members from its sister college in Wuxi, China.
This visit will be the second faculty exchange since Ivy Tech has had the partnership with Wuxi Professional College of Science and Technology. Ivy Tech faculty will take an exchange trip to Wuxi in October.
The college’s partnership is one of Ivy Tech’s efforts to help make Indiana’s residents, workforce and businesses globally competitive, according to a news release from from Ivy Tech.
Wu Li, an information technology professor, and Jian Peng, an electronics professor, will visit Ivy Tech–Columbus/Franklin this month. They will share and compare curricula and teaching methods.
During their monthlong visit, the Chinese faculty members will tour Ivy Tech campuses, sit in on classes and become familiar with American culture. They will attend sporting events, festivals and other activities to learn the U.S. culture and educational system. They also will present their culture and educational system to Ivy Tech faculty, staff and students during guest lectures in classes and workshops.
Wuxi is 80 miles from Shanghai on Tai Lake and has a population of more than 4 million. Cummins Inc. has key production facilities in Wuxi.
