Interstate 65 crash near Franklin backs up traffic

Follow Daily Journal:

Traffic on Interstate 65 near Franklin was backed up after a minor crash involving a car and semitrailer rig Friday morning.

A car heading south swerved off the roadway and struck a median about a mile north of the Franklin exit at 8:05 a.m., which closed the left lane of traffic for about five minutes. The semi pulled off into the right shoulder after the crash.

The drivers of the car and semi, Thomas L. Wood, 44, Greenwood, and Clayborn Wright, 45, Louisville, Ky., had conflicting stories about how the accident occurred, said Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers.

Either the semi began changing lanes forcing the car off the road, or the car drifted into the right lane and struck the truck, causing it to swerve off the left side of the road into the median, state police said.

Neither driver was injured in the accident. Police left the scene about 8:45 a.m.
