An Indianapolis man was arrested after police said he tried to grab a cash drawer at a liquor store.
Ronald Henderson, 52, was arrested on a charge of attempted robbery after a manager at Superior Discount Beverage in Greenwood told police he tried to grab cash, then ran away. The manager told police it wasn’t the first time the man had tried to rob the store at 1004 South U.S. 31, according to a police report.
Henderson tried to grab the drawer out of the cash register but missed and knocked it onto the floor, the police report said. He then ran out of the store and the manager chased him to a nearby apartment complex, the report said.
Police searched the apartments in the 1300 block of Countryside Drive and found Henderson, who was sweating and wearing clothes similar to what was described by the manager, the report said.
Officers arrested Henderson and took him to the Johnson County jail. The clerk from the liquor store identified Henderson in a photo lineup, the report said.
Henderson, 4455 Pasadena Ave., was being held on a $12,000 bond.
