Imagine the surprise of some Greenwood residents and neighborhood children when a hot air balloon made an impromptu landing on their street Sunday evening.

The balloon, marked with a large logos, came down Sunday evening on Sunset Boulevard, off of Fry Road, just west of U.S. 31, and behind the Park Greenwood Apartments.

The pilot was not able to make it to an open field to land the balloon and instead put it down in the street, Greenwood police said. Officers redirected traffic while the balloon was loaded into a truck.

It was unclear who was piloting the balloon, where it had come from or where it was heading.
