The Discovery Child Development Center at Johnson Memorial Hospital has received recognition for having a clean, healthy environment for children. The center was named one of five facilities in the state for obtaining five-star recognition from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
The recognition program is designed to recognize facilities that eliminate hazards that can cause permanent, long-term developmental problems for children, such as testing drinking water for lead, preventing vehicles from idling near sidewalks and entrances and not storing chemicals near children.
The Discovery Child Development Center opened in 1986 and cares for 97 children daily. It also offers an accredited preschool program.
